Angelina Jolie mulls over giving up acting career for politics

Angelina Jolie may be ready for a new role.

The 39-year-old actress covered the December issue of Vanity Fair and revealed she is “open” to the idea of pursuing a career in politics.

“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered,” Jolie, who was recently made an honorary dame by Queen Elizabeth, told the magazine.

“Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”

“But I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful — I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that (could) make it less possible,” she explained of her celebrity status.

For now, Jolie is still very much a part of the acting scene.

She is currently filming and directing “By the Sea” with new husband Brad Pitt.

“A few friends asked if we were crazy,” Jolie said of the project. “(A film about) a married couple going through some difficulties . . . and I’m directing him.”

The Hollywood couple met on the set of their last film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2005 and just said “I do” in August after nine years together.

Despite being an item for nearly a decade, Jolie admitted to Vanity Fair that “it does feel different” and it “feels nice to be husband and wife.”

Jolie added that she and Pitt’s six children wrote a very sweet part of their wedding vows.

“They did not expect us never to fight, but they made us promise to always say, ‘Sorry,’ if we do,” she dished.

“So they said, ‘Do you?’ and we said, ‘We do!'”
