Gmail is Back up

Gmail has been fully restored after a service disruption this afternoon, Google says.

As of 3:50 p.m. ET, Google’s  App Status Dashboard reported no issues with Gmail..

Google first acknowledged at 2:33 p.m. ET that it was looking into a possible service disruption, and later said it was in the process of restoring service.

Users, mainly in North America, had been complaining on Twitter about Gmail being down, delays in sending and receiving emails and difficulties logging in.

Downrightnow.com, a website that monitors the status of online services, also reported that the service was up, after reporting a “likely service disruption.” earlier in the day.

An outage map on Canadianoutages.com showed most reports of Gmail problems were in North America, both in the eastern part of the continent and along the Pacific Coast.

Gmail has more than 900 million users around the world and is used not just by individuals for their personal email but many businesses for their corporate email.
