Harper Lee has the second hit in her literary career, as her “To Kill a Mockingbird” sequel is a best-seller before it’s even released.

Harper Lee’s long-awaited sequel to “To Kill a Mockingbird” could stink, but it doesn’t matter — it’s already a best seller.

Hours before it officially hits the bookshelves Tuesday, “Go Set a Watchman” is a hit, with 2 million copies in print, according to publisher HarperCollins.

That’s the most ever for a first printing from the media giant, says Tina Andreadis, a company spokeswoman.

“We knew it was going to be big because (‘Mockingbird’) is the most beloved book and people always wanted to read something else from Harper Lee,” says Andreadis.

But just how big has been surprising.

Presales apparently made this the most popular book since the last Harry Potter installment, although HarperCollins declined to cite numbers.

A staple of high school lit classes and a classic movie, “To Kill a Mockingbird” has a huge built-in fan base. But “Watchman” reveals a new side of the now-72-year-old Atticus Finch, the once-crusading lawyer who in the new book attends KKK meetings.
