Legendary Egyptian Actor Omar Sharif Dies At 83

Legendary Hollywood actor and bridge player, Omar Sharif has died of a heart attack at the age of 83 in Cairo, Egypt. The star of Lawrence of Arabia with Peter O’Toole, Sir Alex Guinness and Anthony Quinn, died of a heart attack after a futile battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Omar Sharif made film and history with his magnificent performances in classic films such as director David Lean’s “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Doctor Zhivago” plus others such as “Funny girl” and “Monsieur Ibraham.” The BBC also reported the death of the Egypt-born Sharif, who won two Golden Globes and an Oscar nomination for the 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia. He won another Golden Globe for Doctor Zhivago three years later. In later years the world renowned Bridge player also received a Best Actor “Cesar” (the French equivalent of an Oscar), for his role in the film Monsieur Ibraham. He was one of the best actors to present themselves to the public on film and will be one of the few who will be remembered for his timeless performance.
