Pentagon Pushes For Anti-Drone Technology Ahead Of Mosul Offensive

The Pentagon is scrambling to bring anti-drone technology to US troops in Iraq. It follows after two Kurdish Peshmerga fighters died last week in an IED drone strike by ISIS. The booby-trapped unmanned aerial vehicle also injured two French soldiers. Sputnik reports: “The coalition has been working this issue hard for some time in concert with the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization, JIDO, the US Army, [the Office of the Secretary of Defense] and others,” Operation Inherent Resolve Spokesman Colonel John Dorrian said in an October 12 teleconference from Baghdad. In addition to the Drone Defender system, other “advanced systems” have been sent to help detect, track and destroy drone threats, he told reporters.
