ESTELLE TO SURPRISE GALA CROWD

Estelle will perform at this year’s The Resolution Project sixth-annual fund-raising gala, Resolve 2015, at the Harvard Club of New York. The singer will also serve as honorary co-chair of the host committee and “Orange Is the New Black” actress Uzo Aduba will also be there. Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe 2013, will serve as honorary co-chair and her Soulful Impact organization will sponsor the gala. Kelly Rutherford, Natasha Bedingfield, Mario Cantone, Jack Brewer, Candice Kumai and Andy Hunt will also serve on the host committee as supporters of the event.

Anjelica Huston, Joaquin Phoenix, William H. Macy, George Lopez, RZA, James Cromwell, Tony Hawk, Jason Biggs and Pamela Anderson have all signed PETA’s petition calling on Ringling Bros. to retire all exotic animals performing now. The celebs are calling for freedom for the elephants, tigers, lions and other animals forced into performing with the circus company. The petition from PETA reads that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment.”

CATE NOT INTO HER “SELFIE”

When one autograph seeker asked “Truth” star Cate Blanchett to take a selfie with her at JFK Airport on a recent afternoon, the actress simply said, “No, I don’t do those.” Blanchett was mobbed outside the terminal, where another fan, armed with a photo of “The Hobbit,” asked for her autograph. “She quickly scribbled the letter C (on it),” says our spy. “(Then) he asked her to sign another one and she said ‘no.’ ” Turning sour soon after that, yet another fan offered her a gift-wrapped present, with Blanchett turning it away with a strict “No, I don’t need that.”

FRANCO’S PLAYING GAMES

James Franco was an “utter pain” to work with on the set of “I Am Michael,” one source close to the production tells [email protected] “He obsessively played video games on his phone and made the crew wait around so he could finish playing his video games,” says our source. “He’d say, ‘Wait, guys. I want to finish this game.’ ” Our source says the crew would sometimes stand there waiting until he was finished. “The crew just didn’t want to waste time, they’re there to do their jobs,” says our source.
